More Than the Name on the Door
You can find us on Broadway, just off Main Street in downtown Vancouver, Washington. Main Street gets most of the foot traffic around here, and we have made peace with being a block around the corner from where the crowd flows.
The people who need us tend to find us eventually.
The name on our door reads In Light Hyperbarics. What lives behind it is a 4,500 square foot wellness center that started with light and oxygen and has, over time, expanded into a thoughtful collection of high tech, non-invasive therapies. We do not always do a great job of explaining that on the sign. You almost have to come inside to see what we are actually about.
So consider this the longer version.
How we grew
Before In Light was a brick and mortar, our co-founders Edna and Cait were already out on the town, teaching about light therapy and its real ability to help the body thrive. They had seen it work in their own lives and in the lives of the people they loved. They kept going. Conference to conference, room to room, sharing what they had learned with anyone who wanted to listen.
At one of those conferences, the two of them made a pact. If Edna got relief from her chronic, debilitating migraines, and Cait got relief from her autoimmune issues, they would open a clinic. They were not bluffing. They actually had to lug a hyperbaric oxygen chamber through customs in Mexico and explain what it was. Both of them did find their way to real, lasting relief, and not long after, In Light Hyperbarics opened its doors in downtown Vancouver, Washington.
We started with light therapy and hyperbaric oxygen. That is where the name on the door came from, and those two therapies are the core of what we offer.
Over the years, we kept listening to the same conversations. Clients would come in for a session and tell us about something else they were trying to work through. A diagnosis, a fall, slow recovery, a change in their body since giving birth, or since turning sixty. Pain that had been hanging around longer than they wanted to admit. We started looking at what else we could responsibly bring under our roof. Tools that were non-invasive. Approaches that worked with the body rather than against it. Therapies we would feel good about using on ourselves and on the people we love.
That is how our offerings grew. Slowly. In response to what the people in our chambers were actually telling us. Not from a marketing playbook, not from chasing the next trendy treatment, but from listening to the Vancouver community we serve.
What we believe
Everything under our roof is non-invasive and holistic. That is not a tagline. It is a boundary we hold on purpose.
We believe the body, given the right conditions, is remarkably good at doing what it needs to do. Regenerating. Rebuilding. Stabilizing. Recovering. Our work is to support that process, not override it. The therapies we offer help the body do what it already wants to do. They do not promise transformation. They do not produce overnight miracles. They are steady and cumulative, which is, in our experience, how most lasting change actually happens.
We are also realistic. We do not pretend to be a cure-all. There are days when what someone needs is a conversation with their doctor, a different kind of practitioner, or simply more rest. We say that out loud when it is true. We would rather you trust us.
Inside our space
Walking into our space is meant to feel different than walking into a typical clinic. The lights are not fluorescent. The waiting area is not sterile. Our co-founder Edna Ness is usually somewhere in the building, and her dog Splash is usually somewhere with her.
If a therapy is not a fit for what someone is dealing with, we say so. If something might help but will take time, we say that too. The relationships we have built with clients across Vancouver and Clark County have been built on that kind of honesty, and we are not going to compromise it.
We are not a chain. We are not a franchise. We are an independent, locally owned wellness center in the Pacific Northwest, run by people who live and shop and walk their dogs in this same downtown. When you come in, you are not a number. You are someone we are likely to see again at the grocery store.
An invitation
If you have walked past our corner of Broadway and wondered what we do, this is your invitation to be curious. Stop in. Ask questions. Look around. We will probably offer you a targeted light therapy session on the house.
The name on our door says In Light Hyperbarics. What lives behind it is a holistic, non-invasive wellness center just off Main Street in the heart of downtown Vancouver, Washington, built slowly and carefully around the people who walk through it.
We are glad you found us.
